Mountain safety tips
The hiking etiquette recommends never going to the mountains alone, so the safest way to hike is in a group. Hiking in a group reduces the risk of getting lost and injured, and in the event of an accident, the group will take care of the person until help arrives.
Weather forecast and location of your hike
Get to know the area and weather forecast for your planned stay in the mountains.
Food and drinks
Bring plenty of food and drinks, especially during summer months when the temperatures are high.
Clothes and shoes
Wear appropriate clothes and shoes. Do not wear open shoes!
Route
Keep to marked hiking routes.
Inform others
Let your family know of your planned route and its duration.

In case of needing assistance, make sure your mobile phone is charged to the max.

What to do in case of an accident in mountains
- Remain calm and calm others.
- Protect the injured person and yourself from imminent danger (fall, falling rocks, suffocation, cold, humidity and similar) as best as you can.
- Provide first aid to the injured person within the scope of your knowledge and abilities.
- Mark the location of the accident or the location of the injured person (especially in winter).
- Immediately report the accident to the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) by calling 112.
